Black holes and Sharks and Monsters! Oh my!

Ryan is part of a small group of unaffiliated freak-people who I have the pleasure to tattoo who seem to have almost no aversion to pain. He chooses tattoo placements that would make even the toughest collector hesitate, yet he approaches them without a hint of reservation. No matter the placement or how long the session, he never ever complains.

The first tattoo I did on Ryan was a sleeve on his left arm, sometime around 2014, a space motif. Shortly thereafter we blended his arm in with his chest and an astronaut on his rib panel, complete with a fully saturated arm pit.

Next was a convention trip to Lake Tahoe where we started his right arm. A psycheclic sailor and impossible sea creatures morphed with machines. We finished that side including his ribs-featuring a jaguar shark-from the Wes Anderson film The Life Aquatic. sometime in 2021.

Lastly we did his torso. Inspired by a video game I’d never heard of, Subnautica. I blended the older space tattoos and the newer undersea tattoos as well as could be expected and I think the subject matter lent itself nicely to the merger.

Overall I have no idea how many hours we put into this tattoo. Lets just say that I appreciate the time spent and the commitment to these projects. Hopefully there will be more in the future.
